I Am A Superwoman

“Even when I’m a mess I still put on a vest with an S on my chest oh yes I’m a superwoman” is what Alicia Keys sings in the chorus of her song titled Superwoman. For some time now, my friends and I seem to be experiencing some hard life lessons. I’ve looked around at my friends, took a quick inventory and there is an abundance of troubles and woes that have seeped into my friends’ lives and my life. From job loss, depression, break-ups, troubled children, troubled jobs, death, sick parents, you name it; we are going through or have gone through it. I’ve learned that no one is exempt from the good, the bad, and the ugly…and why should they be. These types of experiences are what makes us who we are, they build strength, character, and most importantly faith. I’ve also learned to be thankful for these experiences. I welcome them, feel them, and allow them to pass on. The bad and ugly stuff doesn’t feel so good, but it is necessary and part of the process and we should take comfort in knowing that it won’t last forever. We must make sure that we also learn the lesson that’s being taught in these character building situations. More importantly, we should share the lessons learned with others who are in need because after all, that’s what we are here for. I believe that we not only go through things just so we can learn, but to pass on what we’ve learned to other people.

In case you haven’t noticed by now, this post is a bit different from the other ones, but as I mentioned above…I am learning…therefore I am sharing. We are all either going through something or coming out of something. So for those that are coming out please share what you’ve learned in hopes of helping someone else. For those that are going through, keep doing the work, keep doing what you need to do, trust the process, and have faith that it will work out because it will. Life will continue no matter what we are going through. It doesn’t stop just because we are having a bad day, week, or month. So, to all of my friends and readers going through the bad and the ugly, you are not alone I can promise you that, but we still have work to do. Find your inner superwoman and keep moving forward.
