I recently learned that another name for parrot is popinjay. A Facebook friend of mine, Amber, is living her dream and has opened a hair salon called The Popinjay Salon. So, being the person I am, I did a little research to see where the name popinjay came from as I had never heard of it before. In my pursuit to expand my knowledge on popinjays, I came across a store that is also called Popinjay. The owner chose the name because “a parrot is a voice” she states in the company’s “About ” section (www.popinjay.com). The “parrot is a voice” statement stuck with me because I was pondering what to say about these beautiful earrings pictured below, and I had somewhat the same idea when I thought about the content of this post. I’ve been eyeing these earrings for quite some time, and I finally broke down and purchased them from Banana Republic. YOLO right! The earnings are a statement piece, they are bold, beautiful, and can be worn alone with no other jewelry needed to compliment them.
Amber, owner of The Popinjay Salon, likes popinjays because there are different colors and types of popinjays, and she wants to be the person who makes her clients, of all types, feel beautiful. She states that her hopes and goals are “allowing you to feel a little more confident in those things that set you apart…embracing yourself, embracing your differences, embracing your quirks.” How inspiring!
I want to inspire you to make a statement and be the person who inspires another person to do better and be better, be the person that support others, be the person who is full positive self-talk because what we tell ourselves effects our self-esteem, be the person that chooses love, be the person who is willing to stand up for what you believe in even if you have to stand alone…be the voice, make a statement, be BOLD, be a popinjay.
