The Little Black Dress Experiment

Little Black Dress
Black Midi Tank Dress (Gap) Boots (Jeffrey Campbell)

Sooo, I was talking to my friend/co-worker about how I had just received a little black dress (LBD) that I ordered from GAP. I was VERY excited about this dress; I immediately began to share with her how I planned on wearing it. The black dress (pictured above) is a plain midi length tank dress, and in my mind I pictured it as a blank canvas! I started describing to my friend different ways to style the dress and so forth and so on. By the time I was done sharing my ideas for the dress, I realized that I had just described at least 5 different ways to wear it. In that instance I said to my friend….”Hey, I wonder if I wear this dress to work differently each day next week would anyone notice?” to which she replied “You should do that and see.”. And that my friends is how the LBD Experiment was born!

The Experiment: I went to work each day, Monday through Friday, wearing the same dress a different way trying to behave as normal as possible. I was a bit paranoid because I knew what was happening and I could not help but think someone would call me out. Every day, I paraded myself in front of my co-workers having little conversations with a couple of them giving them time to look me over and take notice. By Wednesday of that week, I was sure I would be busted. I did however get compliments throughout the week about how nice I looked, which made me even more paranoid…but still nothing was said about the dress looking familiar. On Friday, the reveal day, I gathered my co-workers around before the day began, and asked them if they noticed something about me during the week. One co-worker suspected a pregnancy to which I replied no. Another co-worker said that I looked pretty and was dressed up. I then revealed to all of them that I had worn the same dress a different way every single day during the week and no one noticed! *See All Five Looks Pictured Below*

All of my co-workers gasped in amazement and said that I did a really good job disguising the dress. Over all the LBD Experiment was very fun as it challenged my fashion sense and acting skills because I had to pretend to “act” as normal as possible throughout the whole week!

The dress is made out of a ribbed-like material and it held up through all the wears and washes! It is still available at GAP and it’s on sale with an additional percentage off of the sale price! So, if you chose to purchase this fabulous dress, know that you will have at least 5 additional outfits added to your wardrobe as proven by yours truly. I do not work for Gap (would love to) so I am not doing this for anything other than the fact that I love this dress and their brand overall.

Pictured below is the LBD styled 5 different ways. Monday: Cardigan (Loft), white shirt (Banana Republic), and sandals. Tuesday: White collar shirt underneath (Loft) and black  purse (Banana Republic Factory) black pumps (Old Navy). Wednesday: White Blazer (Banana Republic), silk scarf (Banana Republic) and Floral Pumps (Sole Society). Thursday: Kimono, black booties (Banana Republic). Friday: Jean Jacket (Old Navy), Boots (Jeffrey Campbell) and black bandana.
